Passing through medieval villages rich in cultural visits, historic castles, waterfalls. The Gorges du Verdon will offer vacationers unforgettable memories, between a descent by the gorge, and a visit by the banks overlooking the Canyon du Verdon.


Aups, village called (16 kms)

The village of Aups is famous for its black truffle market that runs from mid-November to mid-March. Walking through the typical streets of this Provençal village, you can admire beautiful old doors, lintels delicately crafted, medieval houses, ancient fountains adorning charming little squares ... This village and its surroundings are a land of gastronomy, with many specialties: wine, honey, olive oil, and especially black truffle whose winter market is among the most important in France.


Sillans la cascade, charming town known for its famed waterfall (25 kms)

Visit this charming little Provencal village overlooking a hill, and its beautiful 800m walk in the middle of plane trees that leads to a beautiful waterfall 42 meters high. A magnificent castle was rebuilt in 1800, it houses exhibitions from April to October and administrations of the City Council. The Grand Place of the village is home to a buried stone vat, the water from the river was collected to feed the fountains of the village. Browse the ramparts of this fortified village to join a former washhouse then cross the river by a footbridge to reach the beach where you can enjoy a picnic and go swimming.


Tourtour (26 kms)

From the top of its 630m altitude, this Provencal village offers a wide panorama of nearly 100 km around, this village is also a tourist spot where good food is not lacking. Visit its old oil mill still in activity, its streets opening onto an exceptional panorama, its pretty spacious main square and eight fountains, sources that feed the village. Nicknamed the "village in the sky of Provence", Tourtour has a beautiful church and two castle with benevolent towers, testifying to a rich medieval past.


The town of Castellane and the chapel Notre Dame du Roc (70km)

The town of Castellane is located in a preserved environment on the famous Napoleon road. It has a remarkable cultural heritage : historical monuments, exhibitions, but also events, fairs, Provencal markets, hiking and horseback riding, water sports and climbing.
Starting from the city center, a path leads you to the top of a 903 meter high rock, where you can admire the Notre Dame du Roc chapel, built in the year one thousand, and the panoramic view using two orientation tables.


Perfumery L’occitane en Provence in Manosque (55km)

In Manosque, the city of scents, you can discover L'Occitane perfumery, creator of perfumes and care with essential oils.
In its museum, tracing the history of the factory since 1976, you will enjoy various exhibits in free access.
Awaken your senses in the heart of its Mediterranean garden, with a guided tour on request.
Visit the factory to discover the manufacturing process and the laboratory.
Finally, treat yourself to the shop where you will find the care of which you now know the secrets of fabrication.

Descent of the Verdon Gorge in white water sports

Enjoy the majestic landscapes of the largest canyon in Europe, dug by the Verdon millennia.
In the hollow of its cliffs, whose height varies from 250 to 700 meters, you can discover the joys of rafting, hydrospeed, canoe rafting, kayaking or water hiking.
Along the 30km of the Gorges du Verdon, you will find five lakes with their beaches to enjoy a swim with the family or to practice windsurfing and pedalo.


Village of Bauduen

Typical Provencal and medieval village, Bauduen enjoys a panoramic view of Lake St. Croix.
In the maze of shady and pedestrian streets, you will discover houses with ancient facades and colorful shutters, the remains of ramparts and Renaissance doors, the sundial of the nineteenth century, fountains and wash houses.
You will also find restaurants, a small port and beaches, allowing you direct access to nautical activities (kayak, paddle boats ...).


Gréoux-les-bains (40 kms)

This village will seduce you with its art of living and its rich history. Its typically Provençal lanes will guide you between the numerous fountains, laundries and small squares. You will not miss the castle "Knights Templar", a medieval fortress classified since 1840 to historical monument. Every Thursday morning you can go to the large Provencal market and in season the night market invades the pedestrian streets every Friday.

Finally, for raptor lovers, the animal park "The Eagles of Verdon" will amaze young and old.


Aiguines and his castle (22 kms)

Aiguines is a renowned tourist destination for its authenticity and its panorama of the lake of Ste Croix. However, woodturning remains the major attraction with the manufacture of "studded balls" that you can discover in a museum dedicated to it in the village center. Additional visits include the chapel of St Pierre and its orientation table, the place of the Fountain and its belfry, as well as St Jean parish church sheltering a christ in cross classified as a historical monument.


Moustiers Sainte Marie (30 kms)

Provencal capital of faience, this village of character is part of the Verdon Regional Natural Park. Today many master potters offer quality pieces with original decorations. You will also find beautiful stalls offering some local products such as honey, lavender and olive oil. For the bravest, a beautiful stone staircase from the center of the village to reach the sanctuary of Notre Dame de Beauvoir, a classified historic monument with a magnificent view over the valley.
